What could be more relevant in home design today than the home office? With so many of us having made the transition to work-from-home during the pandemic, the home office is one
space that requires special attention. Some don’t have the luxury of having a room all to themselves to work from, free from the distractions of home life-young children, cooking,
cleaning and a whole slew of other things that can get in the way of uninterrupted work. Some find themselves working from their kitchen tables, others from their dining areas, living rooms
and yes, even their bedrooms.

I would like to propose this. Whatever home office space you find yourself in, aim to make the best of it. Style it in a way that speaks to your personal taste. A space that is both comfortable,
functional yet inspires you to be productive. For me, that means placing items near my workspace that will inspire happiness. I love fresh flowers and a nice plant or two. Perhaps it’s a
few photos that inspire you or are close to your heart. Maybe, it’s a motivational quote or two that really keeps you going. It could even be light music that helps you stay focused. Wherever
you are in your home, strive to keep the space clean, uncluttered and organized. This will keep your mind clear as well and help you get the most work done.

A few of your favourite things to personalize your office to you is like having your own stamp on the space. For example, I love a brightly coloured vase to hold pens and highlighters, and other
office supplies. Also, I like to hang a few prints on the walls above my workspace and I love travel photos or photos that create somewhat of a vision board fo me. Unique paper weights
have always been a favourite of mine as well. And, since I am a decor fanatic, fun office decor is a must. Lastly, good lightly is key. A poorly lit workspace is a terrible thing for the eyes. An
interesting reading lamp adds some flair and some of your favourite books placed in eye range add insight to your personality, hobbies and make the space custom to you. Aside from the
kitchen, the home office is probably where I spend most of my time. So this is the space I would go all out on when renovating.

Showcased here are a few spaces that have captured my office design fancy. Some are more visually stimulating and a little less functional and others are simpler yet still style conscious.
What kind of home office would you design for yourself?
