First off, what’s behind the company name? Aside from the obvious, rather mystifying meaning in English, “kosmos” in Greek means “the world”, and even more colloquially “people.” In ancient Greek ‘kosmos’ also means an orderly, harmonious arrangement in addition to other connotations of ornament, decoration, and adornment. Joanna Lula Kritikos, the principal and creative lead of Kosmos & Co. Interior Styling Studio (also of Greek heritage) feels the chosen name is quite apropos. Kosmos has been staging, styling, and redesigning homes for over thirteen years now. With such vast and varied experience in their repertoire, they are confident that they are able to deliver on all of their clients’ diverse and specific needs.
We style spaces having various design influences and inspirations from all parts of this big wide world carefully, thoughtfully, and intentionally curated for the unique individual that will inhabit them. Whether staging a space to sell or styling a home for living we create a visual story that is different every time. At Kosmos, we believe the home is a personal sanctuary. When styling for homeowners to live in, it should be a reflection of themselves-a place that is a wonderful collection of the places they have been, the things they love, their distinct aesthetic, their world view if you will. It’s an intimate look into how they choose to live. When staging a home for sale the goal is to present a lifestyle and evoke an emotional connection for the target market so they can imagine themselves in the home. We pride ourselves on innovation and imagination. With that said, no project we undertake is cookie-cutter. Each one has its own special magic .
Joanna has been working in the real estate and home staging field in Vancouver, British Columbia for nearly 15 years. She has seen firsthand how home staging impacts a home’s saleability factor. With accurate pricing and appropriate staging techniques, the homes she has staged have sold faster and for top dollar. Some are just shy of the asking price and some are over the asking price!
As Joanna likes to put it, a non-staged home is like “attending a fancy party in sweatpants, hoodie, and a baseball cap or worse, going to a job interview like this. You guessed it-you don’t stand a chance. First impressions are everything.” Styling, staging homes, and immersing herself in the world of decor and design is Joanna’s happy place. Her work is her passion. Coffee is her potion. She tries to lead a mostly plant-based life and keeps fit with swimming, yoga, and staging, of course! She has received credentials in the world of staging education and continues to keep abreast of all design, decor, and staging trends as well as the latest in real estate practices.
