For those who love cabin decor but don’t actually own a cabin, here are five easy ways
to recreate that casual, nostalgic and welcoming cabin cozy style in your home no
matter where it is located.
Choose Neutrals
If you love the charm of a rugged space but prefer a more polished or sophisticated
style, choose organic, neutral furniture and decor. Neutrals feel calming and chic, and
give off a more contemporary design vibe. Opt for organic shapes and fabrics, like
un-bleached linen, concrete and natural woods. This ensures your space maintains an
elevated look that still fits within the rough and rustic style of a cabin home.

Incorporate Stone
Another way to decorate your home so that it feels like a cabin is to incorporate natural
materials to tie the interiors to the outside. While wood is an obvious choice, stone is
another material that will exude cabin cozy instantly. Try a floor-to-ceiling fireplace or

use it to frame your range for a very standout rustic kitchen idea. Another more
out-of-the-box idea would be to use stone as a kitchen backsplash.

White Walls For A Scandinavian Feel

Cabin decor traditionally leans towards dim an dark but we are seeing a lot of light and
bright hues in cabin design lately. Painting some wood elements white while still using
leaving the traditional wood au naturel in parts creates a nice two tone complement and
the white really brightens up and makes a smaller living space seem bigger. Keeping
the rest of the room minimal with a clean lined sofa evokes a Scandinavian feel and a
vintage chest as a coffee table adds a subtle rustic element.

Since cabins are all about embracing the outdoors, your paint ideas and decorative
elements should pull from its surroundings. This charming little entryway uses a color
palette of sage green, gray-blue and brown for the walls and furnishings, which are all
used in the Earth-toned rug.

Add Lived-In Vintage Elements

The lived-in nature of antique pieces make them a natural fit for cabin decor. Shopping
at flea markets and vintage shops is a goldmine for picking up decor with stories to tell.
For example, incorporating a dining table that has been in a family for generations is a
very special and personal way to decorate with a vintage vibe. Adding tea pots/kettles

from an owner’s grandmother or creating a gallery wall of old family photos really bring
a slowed-down rustic look to life in cabin style decorating.
